Ode to crap
O crap! You vilified piece of stink
Everybody takes your name in vain
Only coprophiliacs see your worth
To all others you’re just a pain
In the rear and something to hide
In the sewer and deep amidst the
Unlucky fish who have their own
Crap to deal with in the sea.
But you, smelly brown lumps of poo,
Clean our bodies of stuff we don’t need
Feed mushrooms, worms, and play a part
Of every ecosystem. Indeed,
You are a part of our shadow-selves.
I flush you with respectful goodbyes
So I’ll see more white than brown
When my life is flashing before my eyes.
